Welcome everyone. We are well into expanding The Business Blunders Series to include stories from different professions and business sectors.
If there are any topics you would like to address in our blog, or you have a story you want to tell, drop me a line or post below.
Dan (AKA Isaac The Beancounter)
The Business Blunders Series is a management and leadership information exchange utilizing fictitious characters to tell anecdotal business stories which are based on real events experienced by the author and contributors.
The purpose of these stories include: first, they teach how business problems unfold in the real
world; second they portray bizarre situations readers can learn from; and finally, the stories are fun!
The series is based on the main character Isaac who retires after twenty years in the accounting profession then moving to a Caribbean island becoming a bartender next to a resort. In his establishment, Isaac meets many guests from various occupations where they share tales, each addressing a business problem or concept, are tied to an event occurring on the island, and are entertaining. But these stories are not just about accounting... we get into contracting and procurement, human resources, operations, business continuity planning, and general management and leadership.
In the first story of the series several university students visit the island including three accounting majors; during the week the students share their island adventures where Isaac spins the events into fun yet educational business narratives. The sequels will cover various occupations and industries.
To be clear, Isaac is not just an accountant; he also served as a military aircraft mechanic, a volunteer emergency services worker, and combined his training and experience managing vocational training programs in the federal penitentiary service. From these experiences, he alone has many tales to tell!
Thank you for participating in the adventures, and I hope you find the series both informative and entertaining.
